Focus on the first offshore safety days!

“At VALEMO, training our colleagues to keep pace with changes in our business lines, and safety training in particular, remains a central issue.

As a result, and in line with the strong growth in our offshore activities, VALEMO set up its first offshore safety days this year, similar to what we do every year with our onshore teams. The aim is to raise awareness of the risks associated with work at sea and to continue strengthening the safety culture of our teams.

On 24 and 25 May, our offshore colleagues went to Lorient to carry out “man overboard” and “boat landing” exercises in the IFOPSE cell. They were then able to talk to safety professionals about dangerous situations in the offshore sector.

Many thanks to our QHSE department for organising these first offshore safety days, which were greatly appreciated by all the participants!

For more than 10 years, VALEMO’s operations and maintenance staff have been getting together for safety days.

In early June, 63 participants gathered near Vierzon to take part in 4 safety workshops at the Dampierre wind farm (Nordex N117 wind turbine) over 1.5 days, accompanied by trainers from IFOPSE and PETZL, including a workshop on setting up an evacuator in a nacelle filled with smoke, and feedback on best practice in emergency management in the event of a wind turbine fire or pollution at the wind farm.
