What is your role at VALEMO?
I joined VALEMO’s Engineering department at the start of the year as a software developer. My role mainly involves developing and enhancing the internal web applications used by the various business units at VALEMO.
In particular, I am working on Pivert, our application which is gradually bringing together a wide range of tools for operations, maintenance and control teams. I work on everything from the user interfaces used on a day-to-day basis to the application logic and data exchanges with other tools within the information system.
What sort of topics do you work on?
The requirements are very varied, which is precisely what makes this role so interesting. Tasks may include developing a new feature in Pivert, improving an existing feature, fixing a problem in production, keeping our applications up to date and secure, working on software architecture, or connecting the application to other systems.
This requires working closely with the business teams to fully understand their needs, as well as with colleagues in Data Engineering and the Valorem IT department on the more technical aspects.
The aim is to transform the sometimes highly specific requirements of our renewable energy sectors into simple and effective tools for users.
What are the next challenges?
One of the key challenges is to continue scaling up Pivert and VALEMO’s internal applications whilst maintaining a reliable, secure and maintainable technical infrastructure.
As new requirements arise and the number of users increases, it is important to strike the right balance between developing new features, improving existing ones and gradually reducing technical debt.
The aim is therefore to continue developing our tools in line with the teams’ needs, whilst strengthening our development methods so that we can ensure their long-term growth.
